Decoding the MicroM Suffix System

A complete Fireye MicroM assembly is built from three main modules. The characters following the prefix determine the exact operating logic of your burner, helping you ensure component compatibility for your specific application.

Module Suffix Feature / Timing Catalog Number
R / D / C Chassis Options: Remote Reset (R), Display Interface (D), or Comms (C). MEC120RD, MEC120C
100 / 101 / 230 Programmer Logic: Relight (100), Recycle (101), or Selectable (230). MEP101, MEP230
1 / 4 / T Amplifier Response: 3s FFRT (1), Self-Check (4), 1s FFRT (T). MEUV1, MEUV4, MEUV1T

Real-World System Breakdowns

Standard 120V UV Flame Safety Kit

  • MEC120: Standard 120VAC Control Chassis
  • MEP100: Programmer (10s PTFI, Relight Operation)
  • MEUV1: UV Amplifier (3-second Flame Failure Response)
  • 61-3060: Standard Open Wiring Base
  • UV1A3: 1/2″ NPT UV Scanner with 3′ Leads

Advanced Display & Self-Check System

  • MEC120D: Chassis with Display Interface
  • MEP230: Selectable Programmer (DIP Switch Configurable)
  • MEUV4: Self-Check UV Amplifier (High Safety Compliance)
  • ED510: Alphanumeric LCD Display Module
  • 45UV5-1009: Self-Checking UV Scanner

Maintenance Tip: One of the most significant advantages of the MicroM series is the optional ED510 Display Module. It plugs directly into the “D” or “RC” chassis and provides an LCD readout of the burner status, flame signal strength (0-80), and specific fault codes. This eliminates the guesswork associated with traditional “idiot light” systems.

Frequently Asked Questions: Fireye MicroM

Can I replace just the chassis?
Yes, but inspect the amplifier and programmer for heat stress. Since these components are modular and often installed in high-temperature environments, they are frequently replaced together to prevent nuisance lockouts.
What is the difference between MEC120 and MEC120R?
The “R” stands for Remote Reset. This model includes an additional terminal that allows you to reset a lockout from a remote panel pushbutton, rather than having to push the button on the chassis itself.
Are MicroM amplifiers interchangeable?
No. Amplifiers must be matched to your scanner type. For instance, an MEUV1 requires a UV scanner (UV1A), while an MEIR1 requires an Infrared scanner (48PT2). An incorrect match will prevent the system from ever detecting a flame.
Do MicroM modules come with a wiring base?
No, the modules (MEC, MEP, MEUV) are sold individually and do not include the wiring base. For a new installation or a severely damaged base, you will typically need the 61-3060 (open style) or 61-5042 (closed style) base.
What is a “healthy” flame signal for the MicroM?
Using the ED510 display or a voltmeter, you should see a signal strength between 0 and 80. A signal of 6 to 16 is the minimum required to avoid a lockout, but for reliable operation, a signal of 20 or higher is highly recommended.

Modernizing Obsolete Fireye M-Series & TFM Controls

Many facilities still operate with legacy Fireye UVM, TFM, or M-Series II controls. While these units were the workhorses of the industry for decades, they lack the diagnostic capabilities and modern safety certifications of the MicroM.

The MEC120 chassis is designed as a functional upgrade path. By selecting the correct MEP programmer, you can replicate the exact timing sequences of your old legacy controllers while gaining access to the ED510 Display for real-time troubleshooting and lockout history.
