The Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-IB16S I/O module is a digital safety module that is designed for the Allen Bradley ControlLogix line of products. The 1756-IB16S digital safety I/O module can be used in Logix 5000 control systems, but the only kind of chassis that it is compatible with is the Allen Bradley 1756 ControlLogix Chassis from Series C.
Allen Bradley GuardLogix controllers can also use the 1756-IB16S digital safety I/O module to control the devices that are connected to each other in a GuardLogix control system. This I/O module has 16 sinking inputs and it operates with a voltage range of 18 to 32 Volts DC. It supports the Allen Bradley 1756 Backplane communication protocol.
The Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1756-IB16S digital safety I/O module is made for operating in only 1 mode which is the single-channel point operation mode. In this operation mode, all of the input channels are pre-configured and fixed in the single channel point setup. The status of the signal from every input channel in the 1756-IB16S digital safety I/O module can be evaluated and used to activate the safety input data and status.
