The Allen-Bradley 1769-AENTR is a chassis-based input/output module that belongs to the Bulletin 1769 Compact I/O series. This module has the ability to help users reduce an I/O spare parts inventory. Distributed by the EtherNet/IP network, this I/O module permits CompactLogix consumers to utilize the 1769 I/O system again when upgrading to the next series of CompactLogix controllers without interfering with their previous 1769 I/O investment. Users who own the 1769-AENTR can use the same input/output module to regulate on a sole, adaptable platform. The purpose of the 1769-AENTR is to simplify the operator’s system architecture and help minimize migration costs. Other advantages of using this I/O module also include system expansion without controller limitation, inventory reduction due to one standardized I/O platform, and enterprise connection using a single network program issued from the EtherNet/IP network.
The 1769-AENTR has dual Ethernet ports where users can connect either linear topologies or DLR. When establishing connections with the 1769-AENTR, the recommended wire size is RJ45 connector that complies according to IEC 60603-7 standard, and 2 or 4 pair Category 5e minimum cable according to TIA 568-B.1 or Category 5 cable according to ISO/IEC 24702. It carries certifications from the c-UL-us, CE, RCM, Ex, KC, and EtherNet/IP.

It may be used to communicate with Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices, especially the PanelView product family, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and other controllers for messaging functions.
