The Allen Bradley 1756-IC16 is a 16-point module that belongs to the ControlLogix system. This particular DC input module has 8 points per group and requires a 20 position RTB, or removable terminal block housing, which can either be the 1756-TBNH or the 1756-TBSH, for it to be connected to the 1756 ControlLogix chassis.

The 1756-IC16 has a nominal input voltage of 48V DC and a similar voltage category, at 48V DC sink. Its operating voltage range varies depending on the temperature; at 60 Degrees Celsius, it ranges from 30 to 55V DC and at 55 Degrees Celsius, it goes from 30 to 60V DC. The backplane current of this module at 5.1V is 100 mA, while at 24V, it is 3 mA. For the current during an on-state, it has a minimum of 2 mA at 30V and a maximum of 7 mA at 60V. The 1756-IC16 has a maximum power dissipation of 5.2W at 60 Degrees Celsius and a maximum thermal dissipation of 17.73 BTU/hr. It also has a maximum inrush current of 250 mA.

The input delay time for Off-to-On and On-to-Off differ. For Off-to-On, there is a hardware delay of up to 1 ms plus a user-configurable filter time of either 0, 1, or 2 ms. The On-to-Off delay time includes the hardware delay of up to 4 ms plus the user-configurable filter time of either 0, 1, 2, 9, or 18 ms.  an adapter or scanner on the network. Aside from block-transfer and digital data, it also transports specialty and analog data without message instructions. It sends data regularly between the controller and the I/O adapter connections. It is a standard module in the 1756 ControlLogix Communication Module Series.

Each channel of this module has an OFF to ON input delay time of 1 ms with user selectable filter times of 0 ms, 1 ms and 2 ms. Similarly, the ON to OFF transition has a maximum hardware delay time of 4 ms and selectable filter time of 0 ms, 1 ms, 9 ms, and 18 ms.

The operating voltage range of the 1756-IC16 varies depending on the operating ambient temperature of the device. The operating voltage range is 30-55V DC when operated at 60 °C (140 °F) and 30…60V DC when operated at 55 °C (131 °F). Regardless of the temperature, the nominal input voltage of the 1756-IC16 remains at 48VDC.

The module has a single slot width and requires use of 1756-TBNH and 1756-TBSH Removable Terminal Blocks (RTB). The module is electronically keyed with a user defined RTB keying.

This module has an isolation voltage of 250V (continuous) of basic insulation type from inputs-to-backplane, 125V (continuous) of basic insulation type from input group-to-group however, it has no isolation between individual group inputs.

It may also be installed in distributed input and output racks with no limit of installation instances.
