The Allen Bradley 1756-M03SE is a SERCOS interface module that connects the controller to SERCOS interface drives. It has 3 axes available that is compatible with the Kinetix 2000 Servo drive. It uses a single, digital, fiber-optic link that eliminates as many as 18 digital wires per axis. It also lets you control digital drives by using high-speed, real-time serial communication. The drive control modes available with the 1756-M03SE module are position, velocity, and torque.
Before installing this module, it is important to install and ground the ControlLogix chassis it will be connected to first, as well as a ControlLogix power supply, and have the required fiber optic cables wires required for its installation. This is because the wires will be used to connect the drives and the module. The ControlLogix chassis compatible with this module are the 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, and the 1756-A17. The module can be installed in any available slot of the chassis and has an open-type enclosure.
The module has a SERCOS interface data rate of 4 Mbps or 8 Mbps and can handle a maximum of 3 SERCOS interface drives. At 4 Mbps, the SERCOS cycle time is 0.5 ms for up to 2 drives (but only with Kinetix 6000 drives), 1 ms for up to 4 drives, and 2 ms for up to 8 drives. While at 8 Mbps, the SERCOS cycle time is 0.5 ms for up to 4 drives (but also only with Kinetix 6000 drives), 1 ms for up to 8 drives, and 2 ms for up to 16 drives.
It has a current draw of 2.5 mA at 24V DC and 760 mA at 5.1V DC and a power dissipation of 5 W. The module also has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 Degrees Celsius and a storage range of -40 to 85 Degrees Celsius. It also has a noncondensing relative humidity of 5% to 95%.
It also has an optically-isolated, current sinking input type. Its nominal voltage is 24V DC. The on-state minimum voltage is 17V DC, the maximum on-state is 26.4V DC, and the maximum off-state voltage is 8.5V DC.
The Allen Bradley 1756-M03SE is a ControlLogix Serial Real-Time Communications System (SERCOS) module that is used to connect to Allen Bradley Kinetix drives such as 2093 Kinetix 2000 multi-axis servo drive, 2094 Kinetix 6000 multi-axis servo drive, 2099 Kinetix 7000 high-power servo drive and 2098 Ultra3000 SERCOS servo drive.
This module is directly installed to any ControlLogix chassis such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, 1756-A17. It occupies single slot within the chassis and compatible for insertion to any available slots. For simplex ControlLogix application, compatible power supply includes 1756-PA72/C, 1756-PA75/B, 1756-PB72/C, 1756-PB75/B, 1756-PC75/B, 1756-PH75/B while for Redundant ControlLogix configuration, compatible power supplies are 1756-PA75R, 1756-PB75R, 1756-PSCA2.
This module uses fiber cables to interface and eliminate the need of copper wires. With the use of Fiber cables, noise rejection is increased allowing optimum and fault-free operation of the Kinetix drive. Fiber cables compatible for this module are 2090-SCEPxx-0 non-jacketed, chlorinated polyethylene 2090-SCVPxx-0 standard jacket, polyvinyl chloride 2090-SCNPxx-0 nylon jacket Plastic Fiber cables while for 2090-SCVGxx-0 standard jacket, polyvinyl chloride for Glass Fiber Optic cables.
Compared to other modules that caters 3rd party and generic servo systems, this SERCOS interface module is specifically designed for Kinetix Servo drive of Allen Bradley.
