    • 1 – Wait five minutes before you start to make repairs. Sometimes, it may take several minutes for the system to respond. If you see no change after five minutes, proceed with the repair.
    • 2 – Check your Honeywell thermostat to make sure you have the heater or air conditioner turned on. If you don’t slide the switch to “Cool,” the air conditioner will not come on. If you don’t slide the switch to “Heat,” the heater will not come on. If your unit won’t turn on, check this switch on the thermostat to make sure you have the proper unit turned on.
    • 3 – Locate your fuse box and make sure the circuit breaker that powers the HVAC unit is on. If the breaker tripped, it will shut off power to your Honeywell thermostat.
    • 4 – Make sure your thermostat connects at the wall if your thermostat display doesn’t come on. Pull your thermostat off the wall and make sure all the wires on the back connect appropriately. In particular, make sure the C terminal connects to the transformer. If a wire comes loose, your display won’t work correctly.
    • 5 – Move the common wire from the C terminal on the thermostat to the common leg of the transformer. This bypasses the circuit board for power, and will solve the problem if your Honeywell thermostat display goes blank.
    • 6 – Relocate your Honeywell thermostat if the temperature display is incorrect. Your thermostat won’t get a good temperature reading if it’s in a bad location, such as next to a door or a window. Make sure you install your thermostat near the center of your house for the most accurate temperature reading.
