The Cleveland Controls AFS-A is a general-purpose air pressure sensing switch designed to monitor positive, negative, or differential air pressures in HVAC systems and fuel-burning equipment. It is commonly used in applications such as package burners and furnaces to ensure proper airflow and system safety.
Cleveland Controls Model AFS-A is a general purpose airflow proving switch typically applied to package burners, furnaces, and fuel-burning equipment. It accurately senses positive, negative, or differential air pressure.
The switch features a plated housing containing a diaphragm, a calibration spring, and a snap-acting SPDT (Single-Pole Double-Throw) switch. It offers a field-adjustable setpoint range from 0.05″ to 12.0″ water column (W.C.), allowing for flexibility across various applications. The AFS-A is capable of handling a maximum pressure of 0.5 PSI and operates effectively within a temperature range of -40°F to 180°F (-40°C to 82°C).
For electrical connections, the switch utilizes screw-type terminals with cup washers, and it includes a ⅞” diameter opening that accepts ½” conduit for secure wiring. The sample line connectors are ¼” – 18 NPT female (high-pressure inlet) and ⅛” – 27 NPT female (low-pressure inlet), accommodating ¼” OD rigid or semi-rigid tubing. The AFS-A is UL, FM, and CSA approved, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
